The changes to Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair have reached boiling point among fans after the highly sought-after Monty Python Volumes One and Two sold out within an hour on July 29.
WOTC Admits MTG Ban Failed + Insane Monty Python Secret Lairs
The printing model for MTG Secret Lair drops changed earlier this year, moving from order and wait to limited supply on demand. The changes came after some fans complained about the length of time it took to receive purchased drops, creating a system where cards were received in a reasonable time frame. However, limited quantities of Secret Lair drops come at a significant disadvantage when drops sell out on day one, such as the MTG Monty Python drops that sold out in under an hour on July 29th and previous Hatsune Miko drops.
An angry fan who missed out on the Monty Python Secret Lair releases took to Tumblr to contact lead game designer Mark Rosewater, venting his frustrations and demanding a reprint of Secret Lair. And it's not just one fan who's complaining about the printing system.
“I’ll be passing this letter along,” Rosewater said. “A lot of people are emailing me about it today.”
