Ukrainian organization Natus Vincere is making a sudden return to competitive Call of Duty after a nearly three-year absence from esports, but they’re not fielding an international squad based in Europe. Instead, they’re bringing in an Australian trio who are riding high into this year’s multi-million dollar Esports World Cup Warzone tournament.
I won the first $1,000,000 Esports Warzone World Cup
Australian trio Zepa, Lymax and Levi will fly the flag for NAVI for Warzone’s July event following an announcement from the organization on June 22. The trio came together for the World Series of Warzone North American Finals, flying to Canada to practice ahead of the big qualifier. Thanks to their fourth-place finish, including a game two win and a massive 54 kills, the team booked their tickets to the WSOW Global Finals. They’ll also be heading to Riyadh via an EWC invite, donning the iconic black and yellow jerseys to represent the storied organization.
Zepa said he was shocked when NAVI reached out to him and the team after qualifiers ended, telling Dot Esports that he has looked up to the organization since he started playing CoD competitively. "They are the one organization that I would represent more than any other organization in the world, so I hope we can make them proud," he said.
NAVI made a brief appearance in CoD Mobile in 2021, bringing international team Team Anarchy to the CoD Mobile World Championship. The team crashed out of the Western Finals in seventh place and left the Ukrainian organization after the tournament ended. Zepa hopes that he and his team’s performance at the Esports World Cup will evolve into something permanent with the organization. “I never thought NAVI would be interested in CoD again, but here we are with a chance and we’re going to make the most of it,” he said.
