Goodbye, Dr. Howser: Neil Patrick Harris Says Goodbye to TV Dad
Neil Patrick Harris pays tribute to Emmy-nominated actor James B. Sikking, his former co-star on Doogie Howser, MD, who died on July 13 at the age of 90 from complications of dementia.
Sikking played Dr. David Howser, the father of Harris' Doogie Howser, on the ABC sitcom from 1989 to 1993.
“Jim Sikking played my father on Doogie Howser, MD and was one of the kindest, wisest, funniest, and most generous human beings I have ever known,” Harris wrote in an Instagram post. “A true professional. He treated everyone with respect, taught me countless lessons, but always had a spark of mischief in his eyes. It was an absolute honor to be his son. My condolences to his real family for their loss. #RIP”
