Bleach fans were in for a treat today at Anime Expo in Los Angeles: Bandai Namco announced that a new title, Bleach Rebirth of Souls, will be available soon for console and PC players.
2D vs 3D: Street Fighter Edition!
The announcement was made as the second day of Anime Expo wrapped up on July 5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with a belated trailer for Bleach Rebirth of Souls revealing that the new fighting game is now in development. The Bleach series has had a relatively low number of game releases compared to the rest of the "big three" of 2000s anime.
The new title will be a 3D arena fighter produced by Bandai Namco and developed by Tamsoft Corporation and will support two players locally and online. Against the series' catalog, Rebirth of Souls will be the first full-fledged console release for the Bleach franchise in over a decade.
Fans have become accustomed to the variety of releases for Naruto and Dragon Ball games over the years. In terms of gameplay style and the system it’s released on, it seems like there’s little that hasn’t been done for other popular franchises. For Bleach, however, most game releases have only arrived on the PSP, but now Rebirth of Souls is expected to release on consoles and PC simultaneously.
