A new bug has been discovered in Razer's software that could allow someone to gain administrative access to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer.
New Razer bug allows local privilege escalation to SYSTEM
The exploit was discovered by security researcher Jonhat, who shared his findings on Twitter in a video describing the process. Tech news site Bleeding Computer replicated the access, stating that it took 2 minutes to gain administrative privileges on a Windows 10 machine.
The exploits work through Razer's Synapse software, a hardware configuration tool. When someone plugs a Razer device, such as a mouse, into their Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, the computer downloads Synapse to configure the device and enable various features.
During this process, hackers can exploit a flaw in the configuration process to gain access to the computer where the device is installed.
