Following Siskel and Ebert, Netflix is introducing a new button that lets you let the platform know you loved something you just watched.
How to Use the Two Thumbs Up Feature in Netflix (NEW)
The update is rolling out to Android, iOS, TV app, and web browser versions starting today as a new way for Netflix's algorithm to better understand what people like to watch and make better recommendations. This new feature is part of Netflix's ongoing efforts to improve your experience and help you curate content.
The Double Thumbs Up button allows the algorithm to get more specific and even recommend something based on a show’s cast or creator. For example, Netflix might suggest that if you liked the show Bridgerton, you’ll be more likely to watch movies starring the same actor or from the production company Shondaland.
Netflix said it has learned over the years that the like and dislike button doesn't accurately capture audiences' feelings about its library. It seems Netflix is hoping for a higher level of engagement with this new button.
