Google hopes to make finding the wealth of information about businesses and local guides easier with new AI integration in Maps.
Google Maps AI Tricks
In a blog post on Thursday, Google announced that it is adding its generative AI capabilities to Google Maps, to help you plan a route specific to your needs. To do that, Google has deployed its large language model (LLM) to analyze information contributed to the app by businesses and the Google Maps community.
“Just say what you’re looking for and our large language models (LLMs) analyze detailed Maps information about over 250 million places and trusted insights from our community of over 300 million contributors to quickly suggest where to go,” said Miriam Daniel, VP and GM of Google Maps, in the blog post.
When the feature launches, you’ll be able to ask the AI a question detailing where you’re going and what you plan to do, and it will return suggestions that fit your parameters. The example Google used is a trip to San Francisco to visit vintage stores and thrift stores. You’ll even be able to add additional “types” of stops (e.g., food) to your agenda.
