iFIT has launched its new Alexa-enabled adjustable free weights, the NordicTrack iSelect Dumbbells, which you can adjust using voice commands.
Introducing the voice-activated NordicTrack iSelect adjustable dumbbells that work with Alexa
If you’ve ever used free weights and wished you could tell them how much weight you wanted (instead of manually adjusting them), iFIT may have a solution. The new NordicTrack iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells work with Alexa, allowing you to change your weight load with simple voice commands. That is, of course, provided you have an Alexa device to pair with in the first place, since the iSelect Dumbbells don’t have a standalone voice command feature.
Functionally, the iSelect Dumbbells are quite similar to other adjustable free weights. A range of weights (all in five-pound increments) can be added to the handles, up to a total of 50 pounds per dumbbell. You can manually adjust the weight using a dial in the center of the selector, and a digital readout lets you know how much weight you’re using.
However, by pairing the iSelect Dumbbells with Alexa, you can bypass the manual adjustments by simply placing the dumbbells back into the selector and telling Alexa how much weight you want to use. You can request a specific weight, ask Alexa to decrease or increase the weight by a certain amount, or use presets like “bicep curls.” Once these are in place, the motorized weight selector will adjust to your desired weight, at which point you can simply remove the dumbbells and continue with your workout.
