With confirmation of a Nintendo Switch successor fast approaching, fans are more excited than ever for the new hybrid console, thanks to hardware leaks that suggest it might be more powerful than many players expected.

The NEW Nintendo Switch successor curses…

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa announced on May 7 that the Nintendo Switch “successor” will be shared within this fiscal year, meaning before March 31, 2025. In the subsequent earnings call, he also noted that the correct way to refer to Nintendo’s upcoming console is “Switch next model,” suggesting that it should be something similar with layers of improvements that will be announced soon. Until then, though, we have more hardware leaks revealing that the Switch’s successor could indeed be a Super Switch, with specs that rival low-end hardware in the current generation of consoles.

We've known for nearly two years that the next Switch would likely use a version of Nvidia's T239 processor and employ tools like deep learning super sampling (DLSS) or image upscaling technology to push the limits of framerates and resolutions without taxing the hardware as much. Early reports, however, placed Nintendo's next console closer in line with the previous generation of consoles. Now, some updated specs appear to put it closer to an Xbox Series S.

Based on research from multiple users on Famiboards, more potential components for the next Switch have been discovered. For example, the device could have 12GB of RAM for storage, an internal storage of 256GB UFS 3.1 and an overall size somewhere between the Switch OLED and the Steam Deck.
