The OnePlus Open is a fantastic first foldable phone from OnePlus, a company that consistently makes really good phones for less than the competition.
OnePlus Open Apex Edition Review
The Open isn’t a budget phone, though. Instead, this is a fully foldable phone in the style of Samsung’s Z Fold5 . The Open goes from stark single-screen to mini-tablet with ease, giving you a massive internal screen for surfing the web, playing games, or watching movies in all their Dolby Vision glory.
The phone is slim and light, slightly smaller than my iPhone 15 Pro Max when folded, but super thin and stiff when open. It feels solid in the hand in either configuration, and despite being ever so slightly thicker than the iPhone when folded, it fits nicely in my front pocket. The extra gram is negligible, too.
Ultimately, the OnePlus Open is a phone that I enjoyed using in the weeks that I had it with me. The fancy specs and tech packed into the device are impressive, sure, but what makes this a must-have for me is how it all just, well, works.
