A new beta version of the PlayStation 5 system explores more Discord functionality, adds more options for 1440p screen resolutions, and more.

PS5 owners hoping for Discord voice chat functionality through their console may not have to wait long. The feature is one of several being tested in the system's latest beta. Keep in mind that this is a beta, however, as Sony has stated that "some features may not make it into the final release or may undergo significant changes."

To get Discord voice chat working on PS5, you'll need to link your Discord and PSN accounts via the console and then use the mobile app. However, Sony notes that even if your accounts are already linked, you will still need to re-link them due to the new permissions required to use voice chat.

Additionally, Sony is testing an option to share your screen (or ask a friend to share theirs) via user profile screens. This includes a new 'Friends Who Play' hub tile to see what your friends are playing, and a 'Join Game' icon that will appear in party chats.
