Prepare to Swarm, summoners. Riot Games is adding a new mode to League of Legends that brings back the long-awaited PvE action and introduces never-before-seen mechanics to the beloved title: WASD movement.
SWARM – GAMEPLAY + GUIDE (New PvE game mode)
Since the beginning of League, players have used the mouse to click around the map and move their champion. But in the new Swarm mode, players use WASD to move their character while using the mouse to aim various abilities. There was a very important reason why the developers changed the movement scheme for this mode, however.
Unlike other modes we’ve played in League in the past, there will be far too many enemies and other gameplay aspects to interact with on-screen during a round of Swarm. As a result, it would be far too difficult for players to click on a location without accidentally selecting an enemy monster or other element on the screen.
It will take some getting used to for seasoned League players who are used to moving their champion with the mouse, but as the event progresses, you will quickly get the hang of how the movements work.
