Microsoft on Tuesday released a series of security updates for Windows that address 44 security vulnerabilities that have been actively exploited.

The update release appears to fix 37 important bugs, as well as seven critical issues across Windows, .NET Core & Visual Studio, Azure, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Remote Desktop, Microsoft Windows Codecs Library, and more.
According to Hacker News, Microsoft has also released an update for Microsoft Edge, patching seven additional security vulnerabilities found in the browser in early August.
One of the biggest issues addressed in the update, CVE-2021-36948, is an elevated privilege issue that directly impacts Microsoft's Windows Update Medic Service, which helps protect and recover Windows Update components.
