NICKMERCS today blamed the state of modern gaming for his difficulty in going live on Kick, stating that most games “don’t please me” and suggesting that he might be ready to quit gaming altogether.
Why I haven't been streaming lately
The Kick streamer, who until recently competed on the professional Apex Legends circuit, has been largely absent from livestreaming circles over the past month. While many suspected it had to do with the widespread backlash he received following his comments about transgender people (which also earned him a Twitch ban), NICKMERCS has instead placed the blame squarely on another factor: gaming.
“Is gaming fun anymore?” the absent streamer asked fans in his latest video, before admitting that he’s struggling to find anything to play at the moment—a hurdle that’s led to him not going live with any broadcasts since late July. “There just aren’t many games that appeal to me.”
In the same vlog, NICKMERCS shared a 14-minute video essay on YouTube in which he criticizes the rise of microtransactions. The break star then went on to explain that he finds modern games quite different from previous releases.
