Nicole Kidman hopes her new erotic thriller, “Babygirl,” will be a “liberating story” for women, as she found it very “liberating” to make.

During the Venice Film Festival press conference, Kidman spoke about the film's racy themes, saying it's "clearly about sex, about desire, about your inner thoughts, about secrets, about marriage, about truth, power and consent."

She continued: “This is one woman’s story and this is, I hope, a very liberating story. It’s told through a woman’s eyes — Halina [Reijn] wrote it and directed it — and that’s what made it so unique for me, because suddenly I would be in the hands of a woman with this material. It was very precious to our shared instincts and very liberating.”

The hit A24 film stars Kidman as an influential CEO who risks her career and family when she embarks on a stormy affair with her much younger intern (played by Harris Dickinson). The film also stars Antonio Banderas, Banderas, Sophie Wilde and Esther McGregor.
