Nikki Haley, who challenged Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination but then withdrew from the race to endorse him, has been hired as a consultant to PR giant Edelman.

Edelman announced Haley's appointment as vice chairman of the company on Wednesday. She served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2017-18 during the Trump administration, after serving two terms as governor of South Carolina. She ended her presidential campaign in March and subsequently endorsed Trump — whom she once called "unhinged" and said "chaos follows him" — for president.

In addition to hiring Haley, Edelman has hired Max Baucus, a former Democratic U.S. senator from Montana and ambassador to China, as a senior advisor. Both Haley and Baucus will join Edelman Global Advisory, the firm’s global public affairs consulting firm, in early September.

Haley said in a statement from Edelman: "At a time of increasing complexity in business, policy and politics — brands must anticipate what comes next. Whether managing a crisis or celebrating a success, industry leaders must be ready to communicate clearly and share their vision for the future. I'm excited to join the Edelman team in helping their clients overcome the challenges of the future."
