Should you buy a Switch in 2024?
The reveal of the upcoming Nintendo Switch OLED model left some excited and others disappointed, but it mostly seemed to reignite speculation about the long-awaited 4K Switch Pro. Nintendo responded to the rumors on Twitter on Monday, saying, "We just announced that the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will launch in October 2021 and have no plans to launch another model at this time."
In the same series of tweets, Nintendo's corporate public relations also shot down rumors that the $350 OLED Switch would have a higher profit margin than the original version. "To ensure proper understanding among our investors and customers, we want to make it clear that this claim is false," Nintendo said.
Switch owners and others interested in the game have been speculating about a more powerful Switch console for a while now. Fan reactions have been mixed. Some are disappointed by the denial of a Switch Pro, others are skeptical about Nintendo’s use of “at this time,” and still others are relieved that they don’t have to worry about upgrading their hardware.
