Nintendo’s Switch console launched in 2017, and while it’s sold consistently, it may be starting to show its age. We’re expecting the company to announce a successor soon, just like the rest of the tech world; here’s everything we’ve heard.
Many game developers have announced a NEW release date for the Nintendo Switch 2…
The Switch 2 is rumored to be released in the first half of 2025. Chris Dring of GamesIndustry.biz is the main source of this information. He said in a podcast episode that the next Switch will likely be released after the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2025.
We do know that the Switch 2 is in the works, but Microsoft confirmed that during its ongoing attempts to buy Activision-Blizzard. Some of the court documents cite “Microsoft’s commitment to make [sic] Call of Duty available on an in-development Switch model.” These documents don’t give release dates, but they do indicate that it’s coming.
Other rumors from the blog VGC have the Switch 2 coming out in the back half of 2024 to ensure Nintendo has enough stock. Considering how the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X struggled with distribution in the first few years after their release, that could be a good move.
