iPhones have automatic photo backup to iCloud, but it’s not an encrypted service. If you want to improve the security of your photos, you can always add a third party that offers encryption.

According to Proton’s latest announcement, which was emailed to Lifewire, you now have the ability to back up your iPhone photos to the encrypted Proton Drive. Statistics show that we take over 5 billion photos a day and many of them contain sensitive information, so it makes sense to back them up to an encrypted drive from a security perspective.
The new Proton Drive feature requires setup, but once you enable the photo backup feature, your iPhone photos will be automatically backed up to Proton Drive. You can even designate photos that you want to be available offline, so you can access them even when you don't have internet access. And of course, photos are fully encrypted whether you're online or not. Proton promises that it can't access your images (or anything else stored on your Proton Drive).
