Samsung introduced file sharing via contacts or QR codes in Quick Share in 2020. Quick Share is Samsung’s file-sharing feature, and it’s super handy for sending files from one device to another. Now, Samsung has quietly made it possible to share more and larger files.
The update, which includes the file size increase, was first noted by @theonecid on X on Friday. The change doubles Samsung’s file sharing limits from 5GB per day to 10GB per day. The company has also increased the daily limit on the number of files that can be transferred at once to 1,000, assuming those files stay under that 10GB daily limit, and improved device identification by showing a maximum of 2 lines of text for device names.
According to Samsung's Quick Share page, you can share files up to 10GB in size, but keep in mind that you'll still have a daily limit of 10GB. There are also some limits to the types of files you can share. Notably, you can't share any kind of executable file (.exe, .com, .bat, .cmd, .vbs, .reg, .msi) with Quick Share.
Samsung Quick Share should not be confused with Samsung Private Share, which lets you share files privately between two devices and includes other privacy features like expiration dates. Private Share has a limit of 20 files per day up to 200MB of data. It’s also important to understand that sharing files with nearby devices, called Nearby Sharing, is not subject to the limits. Quick Share’s limits are specific to files shared via QR code or Contacts.
