While NRG may have a trophy, everyone who took part in this past weekend’s David’s Cup is a winner. Organiser Nouns Esports and the Counter-Strike 2 community have teamed up to raise over $10,000 in memory of the late David “Cynic” Polster.

The community raised $12,640 at David's Cup for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), surpassing Nouns' original goal of $5,000. "Thank you to all the production, talent, and people who made this event possible – we at Nouns can't thank you enough for making this possible and honoring David and his life," the organization said in a tweet on May 12.
The original goal was surpassed on opening day alone, with over $8,700 raised by May 11th. Fans from far and wide gathered to contribute to the cause, while numerous North American CS2 organizations participated in the event itself, with NRG winning the final 2-0 against Take Flyte to win the event. “Thank you to everyone who donated to this amazing cause that isn’t talked about enough,” said NRG’s Jadan “HexT” Postma following the win.
The event was held in memory of Cynic, a CS2 player who tragically passed away in January at the age of 24. Following his passing, Apeks player STYKO announced that he would donate a portion of the sticker money he earned from the PGL Copenhagen Major to Cynic’s family and the Twisten Foundation, named after the late VALORANT pro Karel “Twisten” Ašenbrener who passed away in 2023.
