Nvidia has released a new firmware update for its RTX 3060 and RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards that addresses a black screen issue with DisplayID monitors.
Nvidia Releases Graphics Firmware Update Tool to FIX DisplayPort Screen or Freezing on Windows
According to a message on Nvidia's website, the update brings compatibility between the graphics cards and the DisplayID standard. Previously, computers with DisplayID monitors would show a blank screen during boot until the operating system finally loaded.
The current DisplayID standard came out in 2017 and, when used together with DisplayPort cables, can achieve higher graphical quality than the HDMI standard.
However, if someone wanted to enter the BIOS firmware to fix the compatibility issue, he or she could not do so as the screen remained black.
