Mayor Adams and top New York City officials reported that emergency services, hospitals, traffic lights, water systems, public transportation and other vital functions are back up and running after a massive cyber disaster inadvertently caused by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.

An update the company sent to customers around the world was corrupt, causing many systems and computers running Microsoft Windows to crash. And here’s the crazy thing, but CEO George Kurtz acknowledged that many affected computer systems and workstations had to be rebooted manually.
"Let me start by saying I want to personally apologize to every organization, every group, every individual that was affected by this. And we understand the gravity of the situation," he told CNBC.
NYC officials said at a news conference today that schools are open and school buses are running, though systems to track them may be disrupted. The same goes for subways: They’re running, but online schedules aren’t accessible. Citi Bikes weren’t working, noted CNBC host David Faber, who said he uses one to get to work.
