Meta Quest 3 – 1 MONTH later… is it worth it?
With modern virtual reality headsets, there’s no happy medium between the really premium, high-end hardware and the much simpler, entry-level models. The dream has always been to have a standalone VR headset that doesn’t require another device, has a decent amount of power on board, and still delivers immersive gaming experiences.
Well, it’s finally here, and it’s called the Oculus Quest. It costs the same as the PC-based Rift headset, but you don’t need anything else: it has a built-in processor and screen, and comes with blindingly accurate motion controllers so you can play games wherever you are, without wires.
The Oculus Quest follows the design philosophy of the original Oculus Rift and low-end Oculus Go, with a large visor that straps down over your eyes. Even after fiddling with the straps, we still found it a little heavy on our faces, but that’s been the case with every VR headset we’ve used, and some have been worse.
