In an announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, Blizzard Entertainment revealed that World of Warcraft: The War Within will officially release on August 26 for PC.
The Story So Far | Prepare for The War Within
Fans of the epic MMORPG saga have been testing the expansion in beta since June 5th, including wandering through brand new zones, dungeons, and tons of lore. However, early access to the expansion came at a price, forcing players to decide whether to pay up now or just wait a few months for the official release.
This expansion is part of the larger Worldsoul Saga, first introduced at BlizzCon 2023. It includes follow-up expansion titles Midnight and The Last Titan, promising a cohesive and expansive storyline that will captivate World of Warcraft players.
The War Within promises to address long-standing issues in Azeroth, most notably the giant sword left behind in the deserts of Silithus by the captured titan Sargeras. While other expansions like Shadowlands and Dragonflight have explored other storylines, The War Within marks a return to this core narrative, addressing the consequences of Sargeras' actions and the ongoing struggle in Azeroth.
