Once Human developers Starry Studio were quick to fix an account restriction for their post-apocalyptic survival game on launch day, after it was revealed that players were limited to a single character on just one locked server from day one.
Once upon a time man released a BIG new update and there are concerns about the balance
Once Human went live on July 9 with a number of issues, some of which were reasonably expected, according to a Starry Studio launch FAQ on the Once Human website. The extensive list included a note that early players were temporarily allowed to create only one character per account "due to technical limitations." Character deletion was also disabled. Starry reportedly plans to add multi-character support in August.
The news spread quickly, with players on social media furious that they couldn’t play with friends who had selected other servers by creating a different character. This was only made worse by the fact that they couldn’t even delete their new locked character and simply start over. Other restrictions included issues with crossplay between each platform, which were also planned to be fixed at a later date.
Starry heard the cries of the fledgling Once Human community and released an update a few hours after launch that added the ability to create new characters, but players still can't delete existing characters they accidentally created. "We closed the multi-character creation because the experience wasn't good enough," the developers said on the Once Human Discord server, adding that they had hoped to perfect the experience by August 1. Instead, "that bold plan backfired."
