Human's first major update effectively broke the game, making it impossible to catch Deviants or use the menu and hotbar. Screens also appear black, facilities are missing, and items in the store appear without images.

Once Human’s July 18 update was supposed to add a new event, the Rosetta truck PvP sproutlet event, as well as fix several bugs and add more optimization. Instead, the developers seem to have found a critical issue with the installer that basically broke everything related to the post-apocalyptic game. Now, they’re rushing to restore order.

While the Once Human team considered the maintenance a success, this July update fundamentally broke the game. When I logged in after the update, everything from the menu, hot bar, keys, certain area features, weapons and gear, the display, and the new shop cosmetics were impossible to see or use.

Worse, I’ve had to close the game via the task manager because the “quit game” option is missing from the menu. While I haven’t noticed anything specific missing from my territory yet, probably because I can’t see anything due to the dark screen, some players have reported missing key territory items including water stores, chests, and refrigerators; others have found their bases scattered across multiple areas. A few unlucky ones even noticed today that their servers have disappeared altogether.
