One of the biggest League of Legends patches for 14.10 is coming and in a surprise move, the devs are completely removing one of the game’s most powerful runes in Lethal Tempo. So far, players are excited about the removal and can’t wait for the update next week or two.
LETHAL TEMPO & PREDATOR REMOVED, NEW & REWORKED RUNES – League of Legends
League players discussed the rune’s removal and what it means for the meta in a Reddit thread over the weekend. “From a purely balance and feel-good standpoint, [Lethal Tempo’s] removal is one of the best recent changes ever,” one player said. “Weak early-game champions weren’t as weak as they should have been: Yasuo [and] Yone in particular. Even Kayle could win level 1 against a Darius/Olaf if they kittened and LTed well.” The player pointed out that the rune completely removed several champions’ weaknesses, effectively eliminating counterplay because they could simply run up to you and one-shot you.
The infamous Lethal Tempo rune was a game-changer in the Precision treeline, allowing players to significantly increase their attack speed above its usual limit and dominate their opponents. The rune came in handy during teamfights, where an AD carry could stack up their lethal tempo and tear through enemies if they had their attack speed items online.
With patch 14.10 on May 15th, the change will impact AD carries more than any other lane role, as they rely heavily on auto-attack. Champions like Jinx, Caitlyn, Tristana, Vayne, and Ashe rely heavily on their attack speed to scale into the midgame, and have the ability to single-handedly take down multiple enemies thanks to the rune’s effects.
