JAMIE LEE CURTIS as DR. Kureha | One Piece Live Action
Netflix's One Piece has signed two more actors for major roles in Season 2. In one of the most notable castings yet, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) has been tapped to play Dr. Kureha. Mark Harelik (Presumed Innocent) will play Dr. Hiriluk in a near-perfect actor-character surname homonym.
The introduction of Dr. Kureha is one of the most anticipated elements of Season 2 of the live-action series based on Oda's beloved manga. Jamie Lee Curtis was approached for the role and wanted to do it, but as One Piece EPs Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements told Deadline last month, her schedule didn't permit it. (According to sources, the role requires her to spend a few months in South Africa, where One Piece is filmed.)
Adelstein and Clements teased at the time that "we found a great person" to play Dr. Kureha. That now appears to be TV star Sagal, whose extensive resume includes Married With Children, The Conners and Futurama.
