A year after its release, gaming on the Amazon Luna still feels nearly as smooth as playing on a powerful PC, and it looks set to stay that way for a while yet.
1 Year Later: Is Amazon Luna Worth It? – The Nerf Report
Over the past year, I’ve been returning to Amazon Luna every few months to try out new games and just check in on the overall health of the service. While other cloud gaming options like Google Stadia and GeForce Now have stumbled along the way, Amazon has managed to keep its cloud-based gaming platform firmly in the palm of its hand. The introduction of new hits and more channels for users to watch have also fueled Luna further, giving users more to enjoy.
When I first tried Luna last year, I was excited by the possibilities that Amazon brought to the table with its cloud gaming service. Now, after a year of improvements, new additions, and general updates, Luna remains a trophy holder among the various cloud-based gaming options available to us.
If I had to single out one thing that has made Amazon Luna such a huge success compared to other cloud streaming platforms, it would probably be the way it approaches the service in general. While Google Stadia’s “buy a title and play it” ethos isn’t bad, it’s not exactly great either. After all, you’re still spending upwards of $60 per game, on top of any other service fees you may have to pay.
