When it works, Outriders is an addictive third-person shooter with an expansive power system that allows you to transform yourself into a superhuman machine of destruction.
In Outriders, you are the nightmare that other people imagine. You are the one who takes on battalions and wins.
The problem is, it often doesn’t work. Outriders still feels like it’s in beta in many ways, major and minor. Worse, it’s designed to require a connection to Square Enix’s servers even when playing solo, so there’s no real offline mode.
