Overwatch 2 developers Blizzard are no strangers to delivering major gameplay updates. It looks like they have their sights set on a fan-favorite healer, as changes to Lifeweaver are confirmed to be coming soon. After that, players can expect fewer hero updates for a while.
Jay3 Reacts to NEW Overwatch 2 Hero "Lifeweaver"!
As developers begin testing the return of 6v6 to Overwatch 2, game director Alec Dawson and lead hero designer Aaron Keller shared their thoughts on upcoming changes to the game in an episode of the Group Up podcast on August 2. In addition to these gameplay changes, both developers also announced changes to hero design, including an unspecified rework of Lifeweaver.
The two developers were asked a ton of questions about the future of OW2. These questions were asked and drafted by the two streamers and covered topics such as six-on-six, the general reception of the game, and hero-specific changes. When asked about which characters were being looked at, Dawson said that there were "Lifeweaver changes that I'm excited about in the next patch." Unfortunately, neither developer went into too much detail about the exact changes to the healer's kit.
In light of this vague announcement, many players on X (formerly Twitter) have been discussing the changes they want Lifeweaver to undergo. Some feel that the character is already "too annoying" to play against and want the rework to focus on weakening his mobility and self-sufficiency. Others hope that the devs will change his kit in a "meaningful" way instead of just shifting his damage or healing numbers.
