When was the last time a presidential candidate was known for her fried chicken recipe? The Kamala Harris-Tim Walz campaign differs from previous tickets in many ways, from the contenders’ turn to TikTok to the growing number of thematic appeals, from Swifties for Harris to Comics for Kamala.
On Thursday, more than 60 renowned chefs and culinary personalities will join co-hosts Padma Lakshmi and Joel McHale for the Cooking for Kamala livestream, demonstrating recipes including the signature roast chicken (lots of garlic is key). Philanthropist and chef José Andrés and “Top Chef” judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons will also be in attendance.
The livestream on cookingforkamala.com starts at 8pm ET/5pm PT and will last for 90 minutes.
“Every time I’m with Kamala, we talk about food,” Lakshmi tells Variety, adding that celebrities, including chefs, play a role in the election.
