Peacock has placed a straight-to-series order for the female-led crime thriller “MIA,” Variety has learned.

The series, set in South Florida, comes from writer Bill Dubuque, who previously co-created the Emmy-winning Netflix series "Ozark." The official logline for the series reads:

"Drug dealing is a family affair for Etta Tiger Jonze, but when her family is slaughtered before her eyes, Etta decides to punish those responsible. She avenges her blood relatives and builds the family she has chosen as she begins her series journey from powerless orphan to South Florida's most powerful criminal queenpin."

Karen Campbell will serve as executive producer and showrunner on "MIA." Stefano Sollima will direct and executive produce. MRC will produce.
