The hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 has been immense, especially after Rockstar Games released a record-breaking trailer showing off a modern-day Vice City. However, not everyone is so sure it will change the game, including one former Rockstar employee.
“DO NOT buy GTA 6,” says former rock star developer.
Grand Theft Auto series veteran Obbe Vermeij shared his thoughts in an interview with YouTuber SanInPlay this week. Though he left Rockstar in late 2009, Vermeij is still well-connected to the gaming world and offers a unique perspective on the franchise, as well as a cautionary warning that expectations may be in order.
Vermeij's insights are based on his extensive experience with the Rockstar series, having worked on groundbreaking titles such as GTA 3, San Andreas and GTA IV. Still, his comments suggest that while GTA 6 will be a technical marvel, it won't be a drastic departure from its long-running predecessor in terms of gameplay.
"I don't think it's going to be that different from GTA 5," he predicted. "I think people might be a little disappointed on day one. But it's still going to be the best game out there."
