PhoneSoap 3 Product Review | Clean Your Phone With UV Light

When it comes to cleaning your device, a simple microfiber cloth is usually enough to get your device shiny again, but there’s more dirt and grime than meets the eye. That’s why there’s been a wave of germ-killing peripherals on the market designed to eliminate these invisible invaders. Most, however, are compact and designed exclusively for smartphones and other pocket-sized gadgets. The PhoneSoap XL is the exception. As its name suggests, it’s actually quite large; big enough to fit an Apple iPad Pro, multiple smartphones, or even a baby bottle. We put it to the test to see if this germ-killing peripheral really works at sanitizing your devices.

The company’s standard PhoneSoap 3 is a modest phone accessory, with just enough room for even larger phones, but not much more. It’s like a smartphone tanning bed. The PhoneSoap XL is a different beast altogether. At 12.4 x 9.75 x 3 inches (HWD), it’s like a walk-in closet for your smartphones, tablets, and other small devices you want to sanitize. It looks very clunky on, say, a desk, but you could probably squeeze it into a deep bookshelf without it taking up too much space.

The angular design stands upright, with a door on one side to access the spacious interior. You can fit anything you can fit inside, whether it’s a tablet (large or small), one or more smartphones, your keys, headphones, wallet, TV remote, baby bottle – seemingly anything you can think of. Four lights inside flood your devices with germicidal ultraviolet rays, destroying the DNA of bacteria, rendering them dead and useless. The cycle lasts for 15 minutes, after which the light turns off and you no longer have to worry about the contents.
