The Blipblox myTRACKS is a "beginner's" groove box for kids, but don't let the oversized, kid-friendly controls and '90s Nintendo color scheme fool you. This is a serious piece of music gear.

A well-designed drum machine or sampler should be just as accessible to kids as it is to adults. But who among us would let a sticky-fingered child anywhere near his precious Octatrack or $2K OP-1? Likewise, a kid-proof instrument doesn’t have to be a cheap squeak-squeak. If it’s good enough for kids, it can be tempting for adults, too.
"The design looks like it would be fun for little kids, but I wouldn't leave little kids unattended with something that costs over $50. There's the drool, and they just love stomping on stuff. Maybe for kids 8+, but even they have short attention spans, and wouldn't they appreciate something that looked a little more grown up?" says musician MrMidi in a comment on the Synthotopia blog.
The myTRACKS has five tracks, 48 built-in instrument sounds, and a 5×5 grid of pads for playing notes and samples, and triggering pre-made clips. If you’re familiar with Ableton’s Live Music Workstation software, which lets you pre-make audio clips and then trigger them in time from a grid, you’ll already know how this works.
