Simply put, Corrupt Gear is just gear with modifiers on it; the only difference is that these modifiers aren’t always guaranteed to give you positive buffs. Corrupting your gear is like a simple gamble; sometimes corrupted gear can give you some sort of boost or immunity, but other times it won’t give you anything useful at all. Once your corrupted gear gets a buff or debuff, it’s permanent, so you can’t go back to this change.

You can damage your gear with Vaal Orbs. These can be found in arcanist or monster lockers in the side areas of Vaal. You can also craft them yourself with seven Vaal Skill Gems and a Vaal Sacrifice Fragment.
