Pokémon Go fans have been patiently waiting for new Pokémon and regions to come to the mobile game, and have noticed that it’s been a dry spell. Luckily, the Niantic team has taken notice, and the game’s director Michael Steranka confirms that they’re eager to get the Galar region.

During Pokémon Go Fest in Madrid, Dot Esports spoke with Steranka about a variety of topics, and notably, Dot mentioned adding more Galar region Pokémon to the mobile game. While Steranka couldn’t provide an exact release date or timeline for those additions, there are several things to be excited about, with the Niantic team eager to add more Pokémon and features to the game, as well as finding new ways to engage players.

“We want to find the right moments and opportunities that make sense for individual Pokémon,” Steranka told Dot Esports, detailing when players can expect new Pokémon.

Steranka couldn't share an exact timeline for when Pokémon Go players could expect to see the Galar region fully introduced, but it all comes down to timing for the Niantic team to make these introductions. There are only so many Pokémon the Pokémon Go team can release before they have to wait until the next mainline game comes out, and then it's all about waiting for the right time to introduce them. "But as you can imagine, it's been a while," Steranka admitted. "It's something we're excited about and want to get into players' hands. Stay tuned."
