Pokémon Go’s Halloween event is back, and with Dynamax, it’s bigger than ever. This year, the Niantic team is introducing Morpeko as the main Pokémon celebrating the event, while Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are getting their Dynamax forms, perfect for the spooky holiday.

MOREPEKO, Dynamax Gastly and MORE COME TO POKET GO AT THIS HALLOWEEN PART 1 EVENT!

Like previous years, Pokémon Go's Halloween 2024 event will be split into two parts. Part one will run from October 22nd to October 28th, with part two taking place later in the year. While we don't have those details yet, we can expect to learn more towards the end of October. Part one's event will be packed with things to do, with various Timed Research to grab along the way.

The main focus of the event is the arrival of Morpeko, a Pokémon from the Galar region. This Pikachu-like creature has the unique ability to change forms during battle. In its Full Belly mode, it has Aura Wheel (Electric) as a charged move. When it uses that move, it transforms into its Hangry mode, becomes a Dark-type, and learns Aura Wheel (Dark). This is the first time that a Pokémon in Pokémon Go has been able to change forms during battle using a move.

Those looking to catch Morpeko in Pokémon Go have a chance by participating in the Go Battle League and earning it as a reward encounter. Morpeko will continue to appear as a reward throughout the Max Out season, and after that it should appear when you reach Rank 16 in the Battle League. In either case, there is a higher chance of encountering Morpeko if you get the Premium Track instead of the standard one. Fortunately, unlike Morpeko, the Niantic team has made it easier to catch Zorua during this event, which should appear as a standard spawn for part one.
