This article explains what a PPS file is, how to open it on all your devices, and how to convert it to another format, such as PPT, MP4, PDF, or PPTX.
How do I open .ppt .pptx .potx .pps without Microsoft PowerPoint – FreeOffice 2020
A file with the PPS file extension is a Microsoft PowerPoint 97-2003 Slide Show file. Newer versions of PowerPoint use PPSX by default.
A PPS file can contain several pages, called slides, which can contain video, audio, text, animations, images, and other items. With one exception, they are identical to PowerPoint's PPT files: the difference is that PPS files open directly in the presentation instead of in editing mode.
Most PPS files you'll find were probably created by PowerPoint, and can of course be opened and edited with it. Another way to view and print (but not edit) these types of files without using PowerPoint is to use Microsoft's free PowerPoint Viewer.
