After Hades 2 Shadow entered early access on May 6, The Rogue Prince of Persia developer Evil Empire admitted that it was “not proud enough” to compete with such a title, and therefore delayed PoP until late May.
Hades II – Reveal Trailer
While Rogue PoP's delayed release isn't the best news, fans are sympathizing with Evil Empire and praising them for their "wise and understandable decision" to delay the release date, even though the developer is confident in its upcoming roguelite.
According to the dev's official delay post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 10, it acknowledges that the delay is "annoying news to hear," but it was the best decision for Rogue PoP. As Games Hub reported on May 12, choosing between two games launching so close together during these difficult times can be tough.
Even the Evil Empire developers enjoy Hades 2, so they understand the appeal and know that players want to have fun with this mythological title without feeling the need to make a difficult choice. The developers did that for Rogue PoP and us. The delay means that the developers can focus on a few remaining bugs and test the massive day-one patch to make sure it goes smoothly.
