Controller players and aim assist on PC have been one of the hottest, most divisive topics in the Apex Legends community for years. And according to noted leaker Osvaldatore, Season 22 will fundamentally change that conversation.
NERF Aim Assist in Season 22!
According to Osvaldatore, aim assist will be getting a nerf on PC in Apex next season. The news was rumored to come in a post on X/Twitter, in which Osvaldatore claimed that the "magnet" aim assist value for controller players on PC will be reduced from 0.4 to 0.3 next season, and also said that there will be "more camera shake while taking damage." According to the leak, aim assist values on console are not expected to change, as this change is only targeting the PC version of the game.
If this nerf comes to fruition, it would be a huge step for Respawn. As Apex has gotten older, controller players have become more dominant on PC. Controller players outranked mouse and keyboard users in kills at the last ALGS LAN, according to Liquipedia, and many high-profile pros have even switched from mouse and keyboard to controller due to the significant advantage it gives players in close-quarters combat. That includes the game’s most popular player, Team Falcons’ ImperialHal.
The comments on Osvaldatore's post are understandably filled with a wide range of reactions, from cheering MnK players to salty controller players and everything in between. But surprisingly, many prominent players don't seem to think the nerf will ultimately change much.
