When you share files online, you risk putting your data at risk. At least, that was the case until Proton Drive made some improvements to sharing.
Proton Privacy: A Review to Determine Its Full Potential!
In a press release sent to Lifewire, Proton, the Swiss company that created secure email client Proton Mail, announced improvements to Proton Drive, a free cloud storage option with strong encryption. Now, Proton Drive has more secure, flexible sharing options.
The best of these new options is the ability to decide whether to share your files and folders publicly using a link that can be shared with anyone, or privately, by sharing the file with an email address. Choosing to share publicly will allow anyone with the link to access your files, while sharing with an email address will restrict sharing to only the person who has access to that email address.
You now also have the ability to give permissions to those you share your files with, just like you can with Google Drive. When you choose to share something, you can set the person or group as a Viewer or Editor. Viewers can only view the file you’ve shared, while Editors can make changes. However, you can revoke access for anyone who shares your documents, whether they’re Viewers or Editors.
