After facing significant layoffs and potential closure, Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks is getting a second chance following its acquisition by PUBG publisher Krafton Inc. The former Microsoft studio will part ways with The Evil Within and Ghostwire Tokyo, but retain the Hi-Fi Rush IP as part of the deal.

The two gaming conglomerates have reached a deal, first reported by Windows Central on August 12, to transfer Tango Gameworks to Krafton Inc., known for publishing games like PUBG and The Callisto Protocol. The South Korean publisher will also acquire the beloved Hi-Fi Rush IP, which fans had expected to be killed off following massive budget cuts at Microsoft, of which Tango Gameworks was a part.
As part of the agreement, Microsoft retains the rights to the Ghostwire Tokyo and The Evil Within franchises. According to PC Gamer, the former was a huge success, with over six million players.
Microsoft responded to an inquiry from Windows Central, saying that the company is "working with Krafton to enable the team at Tango Gameworks to continue building games together," adding that "there will be no impact to the existing catalog of Tango games." Krafton issued a press release expressing its excitement about welcoming the "talented people at Tango Gameworks" and its intention to allow the studio to "explore future projects."
