How to Remove Background Noise in Audacity (2022)
The secret to making great audio recordings isn’t so secret after all. All you need to do is record in a good acoustic environment, use a decent microphone, set the recording levels properly, and position the microphone at the right distance and angle.
Of course you need to do some research on what the right methodology is, but the point is that good recordings are made at the time of recording. Once you start having to fix things in post, you’re in for a world of pain.
That said, even the best audio recording will have some imperfections that need to be ironed out. The most common of these is background noise. For example, maybe there’s the hum of an air conditioner. Fortunately, in most cases, this is fairly easy to fix with the free and open source audio editor Audacity.
