The brave folks over at Arrowhead Game Studios have "leaked" found footage of Helldivers 2's game master, Joel, and we can safely say that Joel is not who we thought he was.

Arrowhead outdid the seemingly all-powerful Joel by dropping exclusive found footage of Joel working on Helldivers 2 on X (formerly Twitter) on August 1st. With his own office space, he has the freedom to use his godlike powers to bend the world of Helldivers 2 to his own will. But Joel is no simple human. His very name is an acronym, suggesting that JOEL may be more mechanical than human.

Released by Arrowhead, JOEL appears to be a single operative force, working all hours to spawn in Terminid, eject Helldivers from their Super Destroyer, regain control of the Automaton, and perform Illuminate actions. Now more than ever, we must ask ourselves: who is Joel, really?
