According to The Verge, Google is now rolling out Assistant's screen reading feature. The feature was announced in January 2020 at CES and on YouTube, and is expected to include support for 42 languages at launch.
How to Make Google Assistant Read Your Articles Out Loud
How it works: Since it’s built right into the Android OS, you can simply say, “Hey Google, read it,” and Google Assistant will read whatever’s on your screen aloud. Tapping the screen will also advance you through the page. The Verge notes that you can also speed up Assistant’s reading pace, if that’s something that works for you.
The screen will also highlight the text as it is read, something that will help people with learning disabilities improve their reading comprehension and will help the rest of us
What about iOS? iPhones have a similar feature on iOS called Speak Screen, but it’s hidden in the Accessibility settings, meaning you have to turn it on and then swipe down from the top of your iPhone screen to activate it. Android allows anyone with a voice to activate reading, which can be useful while driving.
