I knew exactly what to expect when I rebooted Remnant 2 to play The Forgotten Kingdom. Enchanting environments, a mesmerizing soundtrack, relentless bosses, and an entirely new Archetype to discover and play with. It’s a ton of fun in a small package with more of everything I loved about the base game. But like the first DLC, it left me hungry for more rather than fully satisfied, and I can’t help but feel that Remnant 2 deserves more than just a rehash of a world we’ve already explored.

Remnant 2 The Forgotten Kingdom DLC Review – Is It Worth It? Should You Buy This DLC?

The Forgotten Kingdom DLC launched on April 23, adding a new storyline to Yaesha. If you played Remnant 2’s first DLC, you already know what to expect: a three- to four-hour journey with a handful of new areas, bosses, and items. Like last time, you can experience The Forgotten Kingdom in its entirety by choosing a “One Shot” Adventure that lets you play through all of the new levels at once. You can only do this once, so choose your difficulty carefully and make sure to explore every nook and cranny of Yaesha’s new zones to collect all of the new loot, as it’ll be mixed in with levels from the base game afterwards.

Exploring Yaesha again is a treat. The new zones are breathtaking, and the art team at Gunfire Games deserves a pat on the back. You start the DLC in the Ancient Canopy, a lush purple forest with crashing waterfalls, ancient ruins, and glowing golden crystals that guide your way. After you kill your first group of monsters and start exploring, a hauntingly beautiful melody begins to play, evoking wonder, awe, and excitement for what lies ahead. It’s a feast for the senses and brilliantly composed. I just wish the entire DLC was this engaging.

Shortly after entering the second zone of the DLC, my character excitedly said, “I've never seen anything like this.” Except she had.
