Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon adds yet another Archetype: The Warden. If you’re familiar with Discipline Priests in WoW or Tech-Priests in Warhammer, you already know what the fuss is about. And after seeing the Warden for yourself in Dot Esports’ preview of the upcoming DLC, this might just be the most interesting one yet.

Wardens are the shield specialists of Remnant 2. They summon a Drone and use support tools to shield allies or attack enemies. Remnant 2 Lead Designer Ben “Tragic” Cureton told Dot Esports that Wardens are “the engineer of all engineers. They are the supreme technology, almost like a Tech-Priest.”

At its core, the Warden's "entire gameplay revolves around shields," and "you can really build on them," Cureton said. You get a shield that's 25 percent of your Prime Perk, and your Drone automatically replenishes your shield as you take damage. Your Drone has an active component, like shields or healing, and a passive component, like damage reduction.

You can use your Drone to protect yourself or assign it to allies, which gives them bonuses. “The unique thing about this guy [the Drone] is that you can assign it to accompany a player,” Cureton said. “It’s really useful if you want to play a support build, where you stay behind and heal people. It’s very versatile and not complicated to use.”
